Help:Namespace

A Namespace in a wiki precedes a page title followed by a colon, :.(Although not everything left of a colon is a namespace --- a page title can contain a colon.)

Example of namespaces are standard MediaWiki namespaces, such as Help:, which is the namespace that this page is in, as well as some custom namespaces, for example FAQ: in GREdic wiki.

The advantages of using namespaces, apart from the obvious one to make the context of the page apparent from the title itself, is that namespaces can be searched independently. To search all FAQ pages, all you need to do is check the FAQ namespace and uncheck all others in the search page.
