From GREdic wiki, the free GRE test preparation resource
Welcome to GREwordlist.org, a site maintained by GRE test takers for GRE test takers.
This wiki is to provide the framework for the work on two main projects
- GRE WWL: building a comprehensive community-maintained GRE word list (freely accessible, and freely redistributable under the Gnu Free Documentation License), and
- GRE FAQ: developing a general GRE FAQ.
The WWL (Wiki Word List)
The suggested way to go about building a community-authored GRE word list (as opposed to the GREdic.com wordlist, which is compiled from authoritative sources and is in static form) is the following:
- Start from a word in the GREdic.com wordlist and click on the Discuss this word @ GREwordlist.org link.
- This will lead you to a Talk page in this wiki, where you should post suggestions, ideas, comments etc. about what the definition for the given word should be like, as well as indicate unclear points and deficiencies of the word definition at the (static) GREdic wordlist.
- When a more or less clear outline is agreed on in the Talk page, it should be written in the page for the word itself (i.e. moved out of the Talk namespace).
Don't let this suggestion stop you from posting a definition directly into the page, skipping the Talk phase, if you know what you're doing though!
Note: all words in the WWL should be in lowercase (unless the dictionary definition for the word is in uppercase) and unprefixed (in the Main namespace). For example, the definition for abacus should be located at abacus.

GRE FAQ
The GRE FAQ is intended to answer any questions you might have about the GRE test, whether it's registration, preparation, test day, scores or any other sort of question.
Here are a few questions from the GRE FAQ. For more questions (either reading or posting), see FAQ:Contents.
- FAQ:What is the best way to build my vocabulary?
- FAQ:How long does it take to build up my vocabulary?
- FAQ:How many words should I learn?
- FAQ:How much can I really improve my score by browsing through a word list?
For more about the FAQ project, see GREwordlist:FAQ.
